The True Ending is supposed to exist in opposition to Maruki's Ending. Joker stays in Shibuya, none of the group leaves, Akechi is *confirmed* alive, and nobody ever has to suffer again. It's not a "plot point", it's something left entirely up to the player to decide whether or not Akechi really did survive Shido's Palace (me personally, I don't think that he did). "Akechi" at the end is meant to be an ambiguous point, open to interpretation of the player. That doesn't just mean they stop being friends because they don't see each other every day of their lives. There's a whole theme of 'moving forward with the life we have' imbedded into that ending (which is why Sumire's line is so important). Everyone is moving away because they had their own goals to pursue. Joker has to go back because he's still a minor.

To address these points as quickly as possible. And her line there is important for the tone and message of the ending.

Why do people always lie about what Sumire says? Like yeah, I get they want her to say more (it is weird how they did it), but she said more than just "take care". That’s just my thoughts, I know that people won’t agree with me but I just felt like I had to get this off my chest and I’m hoping that some people agree with my point of view. I don’t want it to seem that I hate the game because I really do love it and it’s my most favorite game of all time, I was just disappointed with ending and how empty it felt, I really hope that they do another sequel after P5S (depending on how it ends) and they give us preferably a rpg game (doesn’t have to be as long a P5R) and they give us a more happier ending. I am looking forward to P5S but like I said before it’s a sequel to the original P5 and not P5R so it won’t have Akechi, Maruki or Sumire. Then at the end it felt like it wasn’t really an ending but just a “goodbye for now” type ending and I would be happy about that but since I know that they won’t be the main characters in P6 because every persona game has different characters, it just makes me not that hopeful that that part will lead to anywhere. The other thing is that they are all separating from each other, I get that it’s realistic because when you finish high school you and your friends move on, but it’s a video game!! Just give me a happy ending where there all together!! And I was bummed out about saying goodbye to Sumire, it just felt empty because I Romanced her and all she has to say is “take care”, really? I did like the part with Akechi and that he’s still alive, it just sucks because I know P5S is not a sequel to P5R but to the P5 vanilla version, so I’m not sure if they will resolve that plot point. The final boss fight is not for the faint of heart, a true trickster can take it down.I just beat P5R (this is my first persona game) and I beat the game and saw the true ending and to me it honestly sucked, I don’t get why Joker has to move away and can’t just stay, I mean if it was me I’d fight to stay because I would have so many good friends.
